Quaker Houghton Acquires Natech, a UK-based Surface Treatment Chemicals Company

ECHEMI 2025-04-08

Quaker Houghton, a leading global supplier of industrial process fluids, announced that it has completed its previously announced acquisition of Dipsol Chemicals Co. (Dipsol), a leading supplier of surface treatment and plating solutions and services for automotive and other industrial applications, for 23 billion yen (approximately $153 million at current exchange rates).

Dipsol is headquartered in Japan with operations around the world and revenues of approximately $82 million for the 12 months ending December 31, 2024. The purchase price represents approximately 10.5 times Dipsol's trailing twelve month pro forma adjusted EBITDA of approximately $15 million. Quaker Houghton funded the acquisition through borrowings under its existing credit facilities.

Additionally, the company announced today that it has acquired Natech, Ltd., a UK-based surface treatment chemicals manufacturer, for approximately £4 million (approximately $5.2 million at today's exchange rate).

"We are very pleased to complete the acquisition of Dipsol and announce the acquisition of Natech, demonstrating our ability to leverage our strong financial position to make strategic investments that accelerate growth and create shareholder value," said Joseph Berquist, CEO and President. "Dipsol and Natech provide Quaker Houghton with leading market positions in their respective markets and product technologies that complement our technical services model and increase the capabilities and breadth of our differentiated product and service portfolio. They also expand our Advanced Solutions business in attractive end markets with solid growth characteristics, providing ample opportunities to cross-sell and meet the evolving needs of our global customers."

Dipsol was founded in 1953 and is headquartered in Japan. The company has a strong product and service portfolio and a leading position in the Japanese electroplating chemicals market. Dipsol has approximately 450 employees worldwide and operates globally with manufacturing and R&D facilities in Asia, North America and Europe.

Founded in 2002, Natech manufactures water-based cleaners, metal pretreatment products, paint strippers and other products for a variety of industrial uses.
