Over 1800 New Standards to Reshape China’s Industry in 2025
China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has unveiled its 2025 industrial standards roadmap, signaling a powerful push to modernize the nation’s industrial foundation. This year’s plan includes formulating over 1,800 industry standards and establishing at least 5 new technical bodies dedicated to emerging and future industries.
To enhance national industrial safety, the MIIT will also lead the development of over 100 mandatory national standards and publish a comprehensive compulsory standards guideline. On the international stage, more than 100 China-led global standards will be supported, with the overall conversion rate of international standards set to reach 88%.
The blueprint also prioritizes traditional industries, with efforts to upgrade standards in petrochemical equipment, heavy machinery, and critical processes focused on reliability, quality, and advanced manufacturing techniques.
Strategic focus will also be placed on next-generation photovoltaics, lithium batteries, and new energy storage. The MIIT aims to drive the revision and classification of product standards in these areas, while accelerating breakthroughs in smart PV, battery recycling, and environmental resilience of display modules.
China also plans to reinforce its edge in rare earths and superhard materials, advancing standards for key manufacturing technologies and product applications. With these ambitious initiatives, the MIIT is positioning high-standardization as a catalyst for innovation, aiming to guide breakthroughs in critical technologies and secure the country’s industrial future.
