PMMA Price Hike Hits Global Markets from April 14 Amid Rising Tariffs

ECHEMI 2025-04-15

Röhm announced on April 9 that it will implement a global price adjustment for PMMA molding compounds starting April 14, in response to mounting tariff pressures and shifting geopolitical conditions.

The German chemical company cited rising production and distribution costs, driven by anticipated increases in tariffs, as a key reason for the decision. A wide range of products, including those sold under the brands PLEXIGLAS® (ACRYLITE® in the Americas), PLEXIMID® (ACRYMID®), XT®Polymers, CYREX®, and CYROLITE®, will be affected.

Röhm emphasized that certain specialty grades rely on raw materials and intermediates that now fall under new import duties. The company stated it retains the right to adjust pricing further, depending on how tariffs evolve globally.

This price revision underscores how trade policy changes are directly hitting industrial materials, with implications likely to ripple across sectors dependent on high-performance plastics.
