Milliken & Company Announces First Chemical Plant in Asia
Milliken & Company, a global diversified manufacturer, announces the opening of a new manufacturing facility in Singapore. This strategic capacity expansion is Milliken’s first chemical plant in Asia and will further expand the company’s manufacturing footprint to meet the growing demand for advanced material solutions in the region.
“The opening of this new facility marks the beginning of a new chapter in our journey in Asia,” said Cindy Boiter, Executive Vice President and President (Chemicals) of Milliken & Company.
The new facility is Milliken’s latest investment in Encapsys microencapsulation technology, designed to provide more flexible and faster services to meet customer needs. Acquired by Milliken in 2021, Encapsys is a global leader in microencapsulation with more than 70 years of experience in groundbreaking patented solutions. "The opening of this new facility underscores our commitment to meeting the growing needs of this dynamic region," said Ed Zhao, Milliken's senior vice president and managing director for Asia.
"Milliken's decision to establish its first Asian chemical facility here reflects its confidence in Singapore as a strategic hub for specialty chemicals in the region," said Kelly Lai, vice president of chemicals and materials at the Singapore Economic Development Board. "The new facility's advanced manufacturing capabilities will enhance our chemicals ecosystem and meet growing customer needs in areas such as consumer products and healthcare. We will continue to welcome like-minded partners like Milliken to leverage Singapore's strengths and connections to create cutting-edge material solutions for the world."
