PPG to Invest $380 Million to Build Aerospace Coatings and Sealants Production Plant in the United States
PPG announced that it will invest $380 million to build a new aerospace coatings and sealants manufacturing plant in Shelby, North Carolina. The 62-acre plant will initially include manufacturing and warehousing units and is expected to start construction in October 2025 and is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027.
The plant will enable the company to continue to meet the growing needs of the aerospace industry. The plant will have more than 110 employees and produce PPG's full range of aerospace coatings and sealants. The additional capacity of the new plant, coupled with the well-developed transportation network nearby, will improve supply chain and transportation logistics and help improve customer service levels.
“PPG’s investment in this new manufacturing facility reflects the significant growth in demand for our world-class technology and our continued commitment to serving our aerospace customers,” said Tim Knavish, PPG chairman and CEO. “By modernizing and digitalizing our facility, PPG will continue to deliver on our purpose – to protect and beautify the world – while contributing to the growth and innovation of the aerospace industry.”
“We look forward to expanding our aerospace manufacturing footprint with this new facility,” said Sam Millikin, PPG vice president, global aerospace. “This investment not only demonstrates our commitment to the aerospace industry and providing high-quality products, but also enables us to more effectively respond to growing market demands. The Shelby, North Carolina facility will play a key role in improving our operational efficiency and supporting our customers.”
