Bruvi Enhances Brewing Precision with BASF Ultrason E 2010 for 180 Degree Heat Resistance and Odor-Free Coffee
Bruvi, the U.S. coffee brand known for its automated brewing optimization, has integrated Ultrason® E 2010 from BASF into its system. The material is used in the extraction lens within the brewing unit—a crucial component that reads capsule data and adjusts brewing settings for each individual cup. The thermoplastic’s ability to withstand up to 180°C and maintain dimensional stability under pressure and steam ensures consistent coffee quality.
Certified for food contact in the U.S., EU, and China, Ultrason® E 2010 has no impact on flavor or aroma, making it a safe and clean choice for brewing appliances. Its superior mechanical strength, combined with low emissions, supports hygienic and flavor-neutral coffee preparation over the entire lifespan of the machine.
Bruvi co-founder Sung Oh emphasized the material’s role in their innovation, noting that Ultrason® enables high-pressure brewing while ensuring safety. Its precise molding properties also facilitate secure integration into complex brewing assemblies, especially when overmolded with rubber to form a watertight capsule seal.
Georg Graessel from BASF highlighted how Ultrason® adapts to smart appliances, meeting the evolving demands of digitally connected kitchen devices. Beyond coffee makers, Ultrason® finds use in water filtration, aerospace, and automotive, replacing metal and ceramics thanks to its lightweight durability.
