DyStar to Discontinue Hilton Davis Operations and Partially Consolidate Reedsville Site

ECHEMI 2025-05-16

DyStar, a specialty chemicals company with more than a century of experience in product development and innovation, announced the discontinuation of DyStar Hilton Davis operations and the consolidation of some production within DyStar LP in Reedsville, North Carolina.

The Hilton Davis site, which produces FD&C, D&C, lakes, technical dyes and pigment dispersions, will cease operations on June 30, 2025 as part of the Group’s ongoing integration and optimization of its Americas Manufacturing Site (MFO).

After the final phase of the Group’s integration plan, DyStar’s Americas operations will be primarily concentrated in Reedsville, North Carolina and Cheyenne, Wyoming.

"We believe that the success of our strategic plan will enable DyStar to decisively address the fundamental changes that are taking place in the industry and enable us to improve profitability and accelerate long-term growth while maintaining our strategic product development capabilities," said Xu Yalin, Managing Director and President of DyStar Group.

"The overall plan builds on our global capabilities and resources and reinforces DyStar's strong commitment to strategic investments, superior products and services, and productivity improvements that will drive the company, customers and the industry forward," said Clement Yang, Vice President of Global Manufacturing at DyStar Group.

DyStar remains committed to working closely with all stakeholders, including affected employees, customers, suppliers and partners, to minimize the impact on business operations and ensure a smooth global transition. They will treat all affected parties with the respect and dignity they deserve and comply with company policies, collective bargaining agreements and regulatory requirements.

The company will provide necessary resource support to affected employees during the transition, including providing employees with resources and opportunities to apply for open positions at other DyStar facilities in the Americas.

DyStar is taking all measures to minimize the impact on business operations. They will continue to supply FD&C and D&C dyes, lakes, technical dyes and pigment dispersions from other plants within our global network. These products will be supplied without compromising quality, safety and sustainability.

DyStar remains optimistic about these significant changes to its businesses and will continue to support the global supply chain and all stakeholders in the industries in which it operates in a competitive and sustainable manner.
