Premix Opens New Manufacturing Facility in North Carolina

ECHEMI 2025-06-06

Premix Group, a leading global manufacturer of conductive plastics, has officially opened its new manufacturing facility in Apple Creek, North Carolina. The facility was built with a $79 million investment by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to strengthen the domestic supply chain for critical diagnostic and industrial applications.

The facility will produce advanced polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP)-based composites using U.S. raw materials. These materials are critical for accurate liquid level detection and electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection and are widely used in the diagnostics, electronics, packaging and chemical industries.

“These materials enable high-precision level sensing in diagnostic testing and safer handling, transportation and storage by preventing uncontrolled electrostatic discharge (ESD) – a critical requirement in electronics, industrial packaging, diagnostics and other high-performance applications,” said Jaakko Aho, CEO of Premix Group.

With the new Apple Creek facility, Premix can provide locally manufactured products to the U.S. market with shorter delivery times, a smaller carbon footprint and greater supply chain security.
