Vertex Pushes Gene Therapy Into Younger Children With Blood Disorders
Vertex Pharmaceuticals announced encouraging new data showing that its gene-editing therapy demonstrated strong efficacy in younger pediatric patients with inherited blood disorders, further expanding the drug’s long-term commercial horizon. The therapy showed durable increases in functional hemoglobin and meaningful clinical improvement, reinforcing confidence that curative gene therapies can be safely deployed at earlier ages.
