Lonza/Moderna will expand covid-19 vaccine raw material drug production cooperation

Lonza Group (Lonza Group) said on Wednesday that the company will further cooperate with Moderna Inc. (MRNA) to expand the production of raw materials required for the new crown vaccine produced by the US biotechnology company.

The Swiss life sciences company said that under this agreement, Lonza Group will install a new production line in Geleen, the Netherlands, which will help to supply up to 300 million additional doses of Moderna vaccine each year. The Lonza Group stated that this new production line should begin operation before the end of this year.

Lonza Group stated that in May 2020, the company had announced a ten-year strategic cooperation agreement with Moderna to enable the production of Moderna's new crown vaccine and other Moderna products in the future. Lonza Group said that since last May, the company has installed several production lines in Switzerland and the United States.
