Euro Surges 12 Percent Against Yuan Reaching 11-Year High

ECHEMI 2025-07-02

Driven by continued capital inflows into European markets, the euro-yuan exchange rate soared to its highest level since 2014. On Monday, during New York trading, the euro briefly surged to 8.44 yuan, marking a nearly 12% increase year-to-date.

Both the euro and yuan have gained from the weakening U.S. dollar, but the euro has seen stronger growth. Since the start of 2025, the euro has benefited from increased spending within the Eurozone and significant capital outflows from U.S. assets, boosting its value against major currencies.
