Skoda Lays the Foundation of an Advanced Paint Shop in Mladá Boleslav to Help Achieve Carbon Neutrality
Skoda Auto has laid the foundation of a new advanced paint shop at its main plant in Mladá Boleslav, which is scheduled to be put into operation in 2029 with a daily production capacity of 1,600 vehicles. In conjunction with existing facilities, the total paint production capacity of the plant will be increased to 2,600 vehicles per day.
The new shop will use highly automated and robotic technology to improve the quality and efficiency of spraying, be compatible with internal combustion engines and electric vehicles, and support two-color spraying and matte finishes. Skoda also introduced a primer spraying process that does not require baking for the first time, optimizing costs while ensuring quality.
In terms of environmental protection, the workshop will use a hybrid energy of biogas and electricity, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 28% compared to existing processes, and reducing VOC emissions by more than 14 grams per square meter. This move is in line with Skoda's strategic goal of achieving carbon-neutral production in Czech factories by 2030.
The project has a total construction area of 118,000 square meters, a total conveying system length of 15 kilometers, and is equipped with a new curing oven to ensure high precision and high energy efficiency during the spraying process. As one of the most advanced spraying facilities of the Volkswagen Group, the workshop will set a new standard for environmental protection in the industry while improving production flexibility.
