Elkem Launches Innovative Formulations with Low-Cyclic Silicone Ingredients

Elkem ASA, one of the world’s leading suppliers of advanced silicone-based materials, announces the launch of innovative cosmetic formulations with low-cyclic silicone ingredients. These formulations offer excellent synergies in the areas of color cosmetics, makeup removal, hair care and skin care, while reinforcing our commitment to supporting our customers in sustainable development.

Based on Elkem’s low-cyclic silicone technology, these new formulations, with a maximum concentration of 0.1% w/w for D4, D5 and D6, enable formulators to meet consumer and market demands for safe and sustainable cosmetics without compromising sensory quality or product performance.

The first formulation is a lipstick featuring PURESIL™ TMS IDD 50 and PURESIL™ TMS DM 30, representing a new generation of film-forming properties in color cosmetics. Using MQ resin technology, these materials demonstrated excellent water, oil and wear resistance in tests, making them ideal for lipsticks, foundations and sun care products. Its non-greasy, non-sticky texture enhances consumer comfort and sensory appeal, while its perfect long-lasting properties ensure unprecedented smudge-proofing all day long – all while meeting the highest sustainability standards.

The second formula is a makeup remover featuring PURESIL™ CAPRYLYL TSO E6 and MIRASIL™ DM 5. These ingredients provide gentle and effective cleansing, especially for makeup that requires strong resistance to wear.
