Dow will build a new MDI distillation and prepolymer plant in Texas, USA
On June 9, Dow announced plans to build an integrated methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) distillation and prepolymer plant at its world-class production site in Freeport, Texas, USA. This investment supports the growing demand for downstream polyurethane composite products.
The new MDI plant will replace Dow’s current North American production capacity in La Porte, Texas, while also providing Dow’s customers with an additional 30% of its products. The new plant is expected to start in 2023, when Dow will shut down its polyurethane plant in La Porte.
