Korea Approves Two New GM Crops in 245th Safety Review Bayer and BASF Traits Cleared
On July 18, 2025, South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety released the results of its 245th GMO safety review, granting clearance to two genetically modified crops. Data submitted by applicants showed no safety concerns for Bayer’s MON94804 dwarf corn and BASF’s LLcotton25 herbicide-tolerant cotton.
The committee found both products met all safety requirements, opening the door for potential market entry in Korea. This decision marks another milestone for biotech crops in the region.
