Bayer Sets Aside $1.37 Billion for Roundup Lawsuits Raises 2025 Sales Forecast to €48 Billion
Bayer has added $1.37 billion (1.2 billion euros) to its reserves for Roundup litigation in the US, bringing renewed attention to the ongoing legal battles over glyphosate-based herbicides. The company has now paid about $10 billion to resolve claims alleging that Roundup causes cancer, notably non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Following a major settlement, outstanding glyphosate-related cases have dropped to 61,000, with 131,000 claims either resolved or deemed ineligible out of a total 192,000. Bayer has since replaced glyphosate in its US consumer products with alternative weed killers.
Despite these legal costs, Bayer raised its 2025 sales outlook, now expecting annual revenues between €46 billion and €48 billion—up €1 billion from the previous estimate. The group also projects adjusted EBITDA for 2025 in the range of €9.7 billion to €10.2 billion. Preliminary second-quarter sales reached €10.7 billion, with group EBITDA before special items at €2.1 billion.
Bayer will officially release Q2 earnings on August 6. The company continues to manage its legal exposure while strengthening its long-term financial outlook.
