August Hydrofluoric Acid Market Prices Continue to Show Weak Performance in China

ECHEMI 2025-08-11

August 7th, according to the news

In August, the bidding price for hydrogen fluoride fell by 100-200 CNY/ton compared to the previous month. According to the analysis system, as of August 7, the benchmark price for hydrogen fluoride in China was 10,650 CNY/ton, a decrease of -1.39% from the end of July.

Raw Material Side: This week, China's fluorite prices showed a slight upward trend. As of August 7, the benchmark price for fluorite was 3156.25 CNY/ton, an increase of 0.60% compared to the beginning of this month (3137.50 CNY/ton). The fluorite industry in China still faces ongoing competition. Overall, enterprise operating rates have slightly increased, but upstream mining operations remain tight. Backward mines will continue to be phased out, while new mine exploration remains challenging. Additionally, national authorities are implementing rectification measures for fluorite mines, imposing stricter safety and environmental requirements on fluorite mining enterprises, increasing operational difficulties. Tight raw material supply limits fluorite enterprises' production capacity. Rising fluorite prices put pressure on hydrofluoric acid costs, and producers continue to face losses, resulting in subdued sentiment toward purchasing high-priced fluorite raw materials. It is expected that the hydrofluoric acid market will mainly maintain weak consolidation.

Demand side: Terminal demand in the downstream refrigerant market is weak, with low inventory stocking enthusiasm. Upstream products are mainly purchased on a "just-in-time" basis, and there is a strong wait-and-see attitude. Market trading activity is sluggish, and some enterprises have even reduced their raw material demand due to profit losses.

Post-market forecast: Raw material fluorite prices are expected to rise, while downstream terminal demand remains weak. With no positive support from supply and demand, market trading is sluggish. It is anticipated that the anhydrous hydrogen fluoride market will likely continue its weak consolidation trend in the future. More attention should be paid to changes in market supply and demand.
