This week, the market price of epichlorohydrin in China remains firm at a high level
August 7th News
This week, the market price of epichlorohydrin remained firm at a high level. According to the monitoring and analysis system, as of August 7, the benchmark price of epichlorohydrin in China was 11,500 CNY per ton, an increase of 0.88% from early August.
Price influencing factors:
Raw material side: The external price of glycerol raw material remains firm at a high level, and market supply is tight. Most glycerol factories in China are operating below capacity, posing a risk of reduced output. There is significant cost pressure on epichlorohydrin, and some enterprises are raising prices to avoid losses. Meanwhile, propylene prices have increased. Overall, due to the high cost pressure from the raw material side, the cost support for epichlorohydrin is relatively strong, leading to price increases. According to the market analysis system, as of August 7, the benchmark price of propylene was 6413.25 CNY/ton, down by 0.31% compared to the beginning of this month (6433.25 CNY/ton).
Demand side: Downstream epoxy resins market faces high cost pressure, with weak terminal demand and a slight downward shift in market sentiment. Buyers mainly follow their basic needs for purchasing epichlorohydrin, resulting in sluggish trading activity. It is expected that the epichlorohydrin market will remain stable in the coming days.
Market forecast: Analysts of epichlorohydrin believe that glycerol and propylene prices remain firm at high levels on the cost side, while downstream demand is weak and trading activity is sluggish. It is expected that the epichlorohydrin market will mainly operate steadily in the near term, with further attention still needed on raw material prices and changes in market supply and demand.
