Avril Group to Acquire Champlor Renewables from Valtris
French agribusiness leader Avril Group and global specialty chemicals company Valtris have entered into an exclusive agreement for Avril to acquire Champlor Renewables, a rapeseed crushing, refining, and biodiesel production facility located in Baleycourt, Grand Est, France. With an annual processing capacity of 400,000 metric tons of rapeseed, the plant is strategically situated in one of France’s key rapeseed cultivation regions, ensuring strong feedstock supply advantages.
Following the transaction, Valtris will retain ownership and operation of its adjacent specialty chemicals business in Baleycourt. As a core segment of Valtris’ functional additives portfolio, the facility delivers sustainable, high-performance solutions for polymer applications, including coatings, adhesives, sealants, and industrial fluids.
Jean-Philippe Puig, CEO of Avril Group, stated: "This acquisition aligns perfectly with our strategic focus on sustainable agricultural value chains and addressing critical challenges in food security, energy transition, and agricultural sovereignty. Integrating Champlor Renewables will enhance our leadership in plant-based oils and bioenergy while reinforcing our long-standing commitment to supporting French farming communities."
Simon Medley, CEO of Valtris Specialty Chemicals, commented: "This transaction allows us to streamline our operations and concentrate on our high-value specialty additives business, strengthening our global technological leadership. We are confident that Champlor Renewables will thrive under Avril’s operational expertise."
The deal remains subject to employee consultation and regulatory approvals from relevant competition authorities.
