This Week's PVC Price Range Adjustment (8.11-15) in China
August 15th News
I. Price Trends
According to the commodity market analysis system, this week (8.11-15) the PVC spot market mainly experienced range adjustments, with prices remaining largely unchanged from last week. During the week, prices rose and then fell, and by the end of the week, they had returned to the levels at the beginning of the week. As of Friday, the average price of China's PVC calcium carbide method SG-5 type was 4,813 CNY/ton, with a slight increase of 0.17% during the week.
II. Market Analysis
This week, most PVC manufacturers in China maintained their factory prices at last week's levels, with some making minor adjustments within a range of 20-50 CNY/ton. The main reason is that the fundamentals have not significantly improved, with crude oil prices fluctuating at low levels and the futures market remaining weak. After an initial rise at the beginning of the week, PVC prices stopped rising and slightly declined by mid-week to the weekend, showing a weak trend with a slight downward shift in the overall range. From the perspective of supply and demand fundamentals, the spot PVC market in China is relatively loose, with most manufacturers operating stably. Supply pressure has not changed much, and dealers generally quote weaker prices. Downstream demand is insufficient, with most downstream purchases made through point pricing, and there is low enthusiasm for inquiries and purchases, resulting in a quiet market atmosphere. The listed prices are relatively low. Overall, the market is still mainly driven by rigid demand, with moderate trading activity. As of now, the price range for Chinese PVC SG5 type calcium carbide material is mostly around 4850-4980 CNY/ton.
In the upstream carbide market, the carbide market has warmed up this week, with prices continuing to rise. According to the commodity analysis system, the price increase this week was 1.39%. However, prices remain relatively low, providing limited support for PVC.
III. Future Market Forecast
PVC analysts believe that the PVC spot market in China is lukewarm, mainly due to insufficient downstream operating rates and moderate demand. The supply and demand situation is unlikely to change in the short term, and it is expected that PVC prices will continue to maintain a range-bound adjustment pattern next week.
