SKC Secures $40 Million IFC Investment for 70,000-Ton Biodegradable PBAT Plant in Vietnam Commercial Launch Set for 2026
SKC’s subsidiary, SK Leaveo, has clinched a $40 million (₩55 billion) investment from International Finance Corporation (IFC) to accelerate its biodegradable materials expansion in Vietnam. The funding will support completion and operation of SK Leaveo’s new facility, set to finish construction in Q3 2025 and target full commercial operations by mid-2026.
The new plant will deliver 70,000 tons per year of high-strength PBAT, a biodegradable alternative to conventional plastics, positioning SK Leaveo as a key player in the sustainable materials market.
IFC, part of the World Bank Group, is the world’s largest development institution focused on the private sector in emerging economies. Its backing signals strong international confidence in SK Leaveo’s technology and green ambitions.
Both parties have agreed to pursue further collaboration in sustainable agriculture and eco-friendly materials, and will jointly develop an internationally compliant environmental and social management system for the new site. Additionally, they aim to strengthen cooperation in global regulatory compliance.
This investment marks a major milestone for SKC’s global green portfolio and sets the stage for expanded international partnerships in sustainable plastics.
