Noom Launches Compounded Wegovy for Weight Loss at $119 Patients See 15 to 20 Percent Reduction
Noom is shaking up the weight-loss market by offering compounded versions of Wegovy for just $119 for a starter dose—less than one-tenth of the brand’s list price. After the first month, the price rises to $199 for a maximum dose of 0.6 mg, compared to Wegovy’s standard 2.4 mg. While Noom’s per-unit cost is higher at low doses, the lower starting dose is designed to reduce side effects and boost patient adherence.
GLP-1 weight-loss drugs like Wegovy work by slowing digestion and increasing satiety but are known for causing gastrointestinal side effects. Clinical trials have shown these medications can help patients lose 15% to 20% of their body weight. Although Noom’s compounded product uses lower doses not directly studied in original trials, recent research suggests that even half-dosing can be effective.
Noom also provides a $149 launch offer for up to 1.2 mg compounded semaglutide, and continues to offer Eli Lilly’s Zepbound and generic liraglutide through its GLP-1Rx program. The move increases competition in a market where branded Wegovy can cost $1,349 per month, and even Novo Nordisk’s direct-to-consumer price is $499.
Noom’s CEO Geoff Cook highlights that lower dosages mean lower costs and fewer side effects, making these therapies more accessible to patients seeking to manage weight or address pre-diabetic conditions. The company’s telehealth rival, Hims and Hers, is also offering personalized compounded semaglutide for $199 per month.
As shortages of popular GLP-1 drugs ease, the FDA has asked compounders to scale back sales, but Noom and others say compounded versions serve patients with unmet needs—especially those seeking more affordable options.
