Dubai Launches Major Initiative to Convert 100 Percent Used Cooking Oil into Clean Biodiesel Citywide MOU Signed
On July 28, the Dubai government announced a groundbreaking partnership with BioD Technology FZCO, a subsidiary of Dubai Aluminium Holding, to accelerate the city’s transition to a circular economy and environmental sustainability. The newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will enable both parties to collaborate on converting used cooking oil (UCO) and fats, oils, and grease (FOG) into 100% pure biodiesel (B100), promoting the local production of clean and renewable fuels.
BioD Technology will be authorized to collect UCO and FOG throughout Dubai and process them into high-grade biodiesel, strengthening the city’s supply chain for eco-friendly fuels. This move is set to drive Dubai’s green economic growth and speed up the shift toward clean energy.
With this agreement, Dubai takes a significant leap in building a localized, sustainable fuel infrastructure, supporting both its long-term sustainability goals and the rapid development of its green economy.
