Huayou Cobalt Reports 62 Percent Net Profit Surge in H1 2025 Lithium and Nickel Volumes Hit New Highs
Huayou Cobalt posted record-breaking first-half results for 2025, with revenue jumping 23.78% year-on-year to 37.2 billion yuan and net profit attributable to shareholders soaring 62.26% to 2.71 billion yuan. Both metrics set new historical highs for the company’s semi-annual performance.
The company’s main business spans R&D, manufacturing, and sales of lithium battery and cobalt materials, with an integrated supply chain from nickel, cobalt, and lithium resources to battery materials production. Huayou Cobalt has positioned itself as a leader in low-carbon, eco-friendly new energy materials.
Highlights from the first half include a 17.68% increase in ternary cathode shipments to 39,600 tons, with ultra-high nickel 9-series products now making up over 60% of this segment. The company’s ternary cathode exports accounted for 57% of China’s total. Precursor shipments fell slightly due to a strategic shift away from low-margin products, while cobalt products dropped 9.89% year-on-year. Nickel product shipments nearly doubled to 139,400 tons, providing substantial profit support.
Huayou Cobalt also made strides in solid-state battery materials, collaborating deeply with leading domestic battery makers and key clients like Farasis, Weilan New Energy, Qingtao, and Jinyu. These partnerships have boosted R&D, mass production, and market expansion, cementing the company’s advantage in large cylindrical and solid-state battery materials.
