Epoxy Chloropropane Market Prices Rise This Week (8.18–8.21)

ECHEMI 2025-08-22

August 21, News

This week, the market price of epichlorohydrin in China has risen. According to the monitoring and analysis system, as of August 21, the benchmark price of epichlorohydrin was 11,300 CNY per ton, a decrease of 0.88% from early August.

Price influencing factors:

On the raw materials front: This week, the price of propylene—a key raw material—has slightly declined, while glycerin prices remain stubbornly high. Overall, cost pressures at the supply end remain elevated. Additionally, with declining spot inventory levels, market sentiment continues to favor upward pressure on epichlorohydrin prices. According to the market analysis system, as of August 21, the benchmark price for propylene stood at 6,548.25 CNY per ton, representing a 1.79% increase compared to the beginning of this month (6,433.25 CNY per ton).

On the demand side: The downstream epoxy resins market is currently marked by a cautious "wait-and-see" sentiment, with buyers primarily focusing on small, immediate-need orders. Currently, capacity utilization in the epoxy resins market has reached around 50%, indicating a relatively relaxed supply situation. Some downstream companies have tentatively raised prices, but weak terminal demand has led to a lukewarm trading atmosphere, resulting in very few actual transactions. Overall, demand remains limited in its ability to provide significant support for the epichlorohydrin market.

Market forecast: Epoxy chloropropane analysts believe that with the high and stable prices of glycerin and propylene, and the decreasing inventory of spot goods, epoxy chloropropane manufacturers in China are quite optimistic and have a strong willingness to push for price increases. It is expected that the epoxy chloropropane market in China will maintain a steady and slightly upward trend in the near future. More attention still needs to be paid to the changes in raw material prices and market supply and demand.
