Eco Refrigerants Market to Hit $2.3 Billion by 2032 Asia Pacific Leads with 7 Percent CAGR
According to Meticulous Research, the global eco-friendly refrigerants market is projected to expand from $1.5 billion in 2025 to $2.3 billion by 2032, with a CAGR of 5.9%. Growth is fueled by stricter regulations phasing out hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and surging demand for green cooling solutions.
Research Director Mr. Udav Sabul highlighted a major shift towards sustainable natural refrigerants as environmental awareness and legislation intensify worldwide. Ammonia refrigerants, with zero ozone depletion and minimal global warming impact, are set for rapid expansion—especially as Asia Pacific is expected to outpace other regions with a CAGR topping 7% thanks to strong governmental backing.
Currently, hydrocarbons account for over 37% of the market due to their low environmental footprint. Ammonia and carbon dioxide refrigerants are gaining ground, with propane increasingly used in both residential and commercial air conditioning.
Refrigeration applications dominate with a market share above 52%, mainly driven by food preservation, pharmaceuticals, and cold chain storage. Industrial users hold over 45% of the market, but commercial demand—especially in retail and commercial buildings—is rising fastest, with residential adoption also climbing as consumers prefer greener technologies.
Regionally, Asia Pacific leads with more than 44% of global market share, while Europe and North America are accelerating adoption through policy and regulatory measures. California, for instance, mandates a shift to ultra-low GWP refrigerants by 2035.
