II. Market Analysis
Price Overview: On August 25, coking coal prices in the Binzhou market remained stable. Currently, local quasi-first-grade dry-quenched coke is priced at 1,715–1,735 CNY/ton, all delivered ex-factory including tax. Meanwhile, metallurgical coke prices in the Tongling market stayed steady on August 25, with first-grade dry-quenched coke quoted at a monthly ex-warehouse price of 1,752 CNY/ton, inclusive of tax. In addition, metallurgical coke prices at Tianjin Port also remained unchanged, with quasi-first-grade coke currently listed at 1,570 CNY/ton and first-grade coke at 1,670 CNY/ton—both prices are ex-warehouse, payable by bank acceptance.
Supply Side: On August 25, the Chinese chemical coke market remained stable. In terms of supply, the continuous rise in chemical coke prices has led to a recovery in profits for coke enterprises, and overall market operations have been maintained at a relatively high level. However, recent demand has gradually weakened, and some regional coke enterprises have encountered difficulties in shipping their products.
Demand Side: Currently, downstream market demand is insufficient and sluggish. Downstream calcium carbide companies and alloy plants are primarily replenishing stocks based on immediate needs, with most maintaining normal inventory levels. As a result, purchasing activity has somewhat declined.
III. Market Forecast
Coke analysts believe: In the short term, the coke market in China is expected to remain stable. Currently, the price of medium-sized chemical coke in the Ningxia market is 1140-1190 CNY/ton, in the Inner Mongolia market it is 1090-1140 CNY/ton, and in the Xinjiang market, the price of medium-sized wet quenched chemical coke is 730 CNY/ton, all factory prices, cash including tax.
