EU Alerts on Non-Compliant Chinese Oyster Sauce and Miso Exports
European authorities issued rapid alerts regarding two Chinese food exports that failed to meet standards. In early August 2025, the EU’s Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) notified that Chinese-exported oyster sauce and miso paste were non-compliant with safety requirements. According to the alerts on August 6 and 7, the oyster sauce shipment was distributed to Germany, and the miso paste was also found non-compliant . These violations can include issues like contaminants or composition not meeting EU regulations. In response, experts urged Chinese exporters to strictly follow importing countries’ standards and ensure product safety to avoid such incidents. The EU notification serves to protect consumers by removing or refusing the affected sauce and paste, and it reminds exporters to improve quality control for international shipments.
