September Adipic Acid Market Experiences Fluctuating Decline

ECHEMI 2025-09-27

September 26, News

According to the commodity market analysis system, in September, the adipic acid market in China weakened, mainly characterized by fluctuating declines. On September 1st, the average market price of adipic acid in China was 7383 CNY/ton, and by September 26th, the average market price of adipic acid in China had dropped to 7250 CNY/ton, a decrease of 1.81%.

Negative factors pile up as adipic acid prices in September fluctuate and decline.

Since September, cyclohexanone—a key raw material for adipic acid—has remained weak but stable, while the price of pure benzene, another critical input, has declined. At the same time, rigid downstream demand has softened, further dragging down adipic acid prices, which have now dropped to 7,300 CNY per ton as of September 11. Market transactions have been sluggish, with overall sales remaining lackluster. Combined with bearish factors, the outlook for adipic acid continues to weaken and decline.

After mid-month, the prices of raw materials pure benzene and cyclohexanone declined, with cost support playing only a limited role. Terminal demand remained moderate, leading to sluggish market transactions and weakening adipic acid prices. As of September 22, prices had dropped to 7,280 CNY per ton—about 100 yuan lower than at the beginning of the month.

At the end of the month, raw materials such as pure benzene and cyclohexanone continued to trade weakly, offering only modest support. Terminal demand remained sluggish, leading to lackluster market activity, while adipic acid prices edged slightly lower but stabilized overall. As of September 26, the average market price dropped to 7,250 CNY per ton, a nearly 2% decline compared to the beginning of the month.

The adipic acid analyst believes: After the National Day holiday, terminal demand will increase, and the raw material market will improve, which is expected to stop the decline and boost the adipic acid market in China.
