Dow announces a series of capacity expansion plans
On July 1, Dow announced a series of incremental and high-return capacity expansion plans to support the growing demand of its key end markets. All of these plans emphasize sustainable solutions and continue to achieve higher than GDP. Speed growth.
In Dow’s consumer solutions business, several key growth projects are planned to be implemented globally in 2021, when silicone elastomers and thermally conductive materials, silicone polymers and sealants, silicone engineering materials and pressure-sensitive materials will be added. Binder, CatHEC (cationic hydroxyethyl cellulose) polymer and PEG (polyethylene glycol) production capacity.
These expansions build on Dow’s previous investment in its consumer solutions business, including more than 20 key debottleneck, efficiency and growth capital projects during 2019 and 2020.
In the polyurethane and construction chemicals business, Dow plans to increase its propylene glycol (PG) production capacity in Map Ta Phut, Thailand by 80,000 tons per year, bringing the total production capacity to 250,000 tons per year. It is expected to go online in 2024.
Dow also recently announced plans to build an integrated MDI distillation and prepolymer facility in Freeport, Texas, USA.
