ECHEMI 2026-05-16

May 15th, according to news,

I. Price Trends

Taking the sulfuric acid method rutile titanium dioxide, which has a large sales volume in the Chinese market, as an example, according to data monitoring, the price of titanium dioxide in China remained stable this week, with the average price being 17,180 CNY per ton.

2. Market Analysis

This week, international titanium dioxide company Kronos announced that it will increase sales prices by $325 per ton in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia (MEAA region) starting from July 1st. Ningbo Xinfu announced that the price of rutile titanium dioxide will be increased by RMB 1,000 per ton in China based on the original price on May 14, 2026, and by $150 per ton for exports.

This week, the Chinese titanium dioxide market has adopted a wait-and-see approach. Raw material sulfuric acid prices remain firm, putting upward pressure on costs, and most manufacturers are keeping their quotes stable. Downstream market demand is moderate, driven primarily by essential needs, and the overall market atmosphere is characterized by cautious observation. As of now, rutile-type titanium dioxide produced via the sulfuric acid process in China is mostly quoted between 16,500 and 18,000 CNY per ton; anatase-type is around 15,000 to 16,000 CNY per ton, with actual transaction prices negotiated on a case-by-case basis.

III. Future Market Forecast

Titanium dioxide analysts believe: The rise in international titanium dioxide prices is somewhat beneficial for China's titanium dioxide exports. There are instances of tight supply in the market. It is expected that in the short term, the market price of titanium dioxide will be relatively flexible, with a general attitude of wait-and-see.
