Israel's new drug EXO-CD24: 90% of patients with COVID-19 discharged from hospital within 5 days! Fight the cytokine storm!

The new drug is a new drug developed by a team at Sourasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv. "The main goal of this research is to verify whether the drug is safe," said Professor Nadir Arber. "Until today, we have not found any significant side effects in the two groups of patients."

The trial was conducted in Athens because (at the time) there were not enough relevant patients in Israel. The lead researcher is Professor Sotiris Tsiodras, a Greek coronavirus expert. Arber and his team, including Dr. Shiran Shapira, developed the drug based on a molecule called CD24 that the professor has studied for 25 years, which is naturally present in the body.

Clinically, the main reason for the deterioration of the patient's condition is the excessive activation of the immune system, also known as cytokine storm. The drug is aimed at cytokine storm. CD24 is a protein fixed on the cell membrane. It has many functions, including the mechanism of regulating cytokine storms.

Arber emphasized that EXO-CD24 will not affect the entire immune system, but only for this specific mechanism to help find its correct balance again. "We are using the body's endogenous mechanisms to balance the cytokine storm part."

Arber pointed out that another breakthrough of this treatment is its delivery. "We are using exosomes, which are very small vesicles that originate from the cell membrane and are responsible for the exchange of information between them," he said. "By trying to transport them exactly where they are needed, we have avoided many side effects."
