Both Supply and Demand Weak, Hydrogen Peroxide Prices Continue to Decline

ECHEMI 2026-08-18

August 17 news

According to Spotcom data: In August, the hydrogen peroxide market showed a weak downward trend, with a price decrease of over 9%. At the beginning of the month, the average market price of hydrogen peroxide in China was 636 CNY/ton. On August 17, the average market price of hydrogen peroxide in China dropped to 576 CNY/ton, a decline of 9.42%.

Reasons for the Fluctuations in Hydrogen Peroxide Prices in China

Supply Side: The overall supply is loose, and overcapacity in the industry is a long-term pressure. New capacities continue to be planned and implemented. Local plant maintenance: Shandong Jinmei Mingshui has been shut down for a long time, resulting in a short-term loss of some supply. However, other major plants are maintaining high production levels, and overall output has not significantly decreased. Many large plants in Shandong are operating at full capacity, leading to a large volume of supply, which has lowered the price floor in North China.

Demand Side: Traditional downstream sectors remain weak: Papermaking and textile bleaching are in the off-season during summer, with stable rigid demand but no significant concentrated restocking. Key chemical downstream industries such as caprolactam generally maintain normal operating rates, and raw material procurement remains cautious—companies tend to buy only as needed. Exports show a slight increase: Guangxi has shipped bulk hydrogen peroxide to Vietnam, though the volume is limited and insufficient to reverse China’s overall oversupply situation. Traders’ sentiment remains bearish, with low willingness to proactively stockpile goods; they mainly adopt a strategy of quick entry and quick exit.

Technical analysis forecast for hydrogen peroxide spot market: From the price trend chart of hydrogen peroxide, key indicators show that on July 21, the 10-day moving average of hydrogen peroxide crossed below the 20-day moving average, indicating a downward trend. In early August, the hydrogen peroxide market continued to show a weak downward trend. After mid-August, the difference between the averages narrowed, and the decline slowed down.

Auxiliary Indicator: In early August, the price of hydrogen peroxide reached its lowest point on the 10th, the 20th, and the 30th, indicating that, in the long term, there is still room for hydrogen peroxide prices to rise.

In summary: In mid-August, the fundamentals of hydrogen peroxide in China show weak supply and demand, with the market continuously trending downward. From a technical perspective, it can be seen that in early August, the price of hydrogen peroxide was at a low level, with potential for an increase. By late August, the hydrogen peroxide market is expected to stop falling and rise, with a high probability of an increase, and the estimated price range is between 500 CNY/ton and 600 CNY/ton.
