ECHEMI 2021-09-08

On September 6, a fire broke out in a HIP-Petrohemija plant in Serbia. According to the company’s statement, the fire started at a processing facility in the Etilen plant, and all equipment in the plant had ceased operation affected by it.

According to local news reports, the firefighters responded quickly and with the support of the firefighters, the refinery and the Pancevo fire brigade, the fire was brought under control. An employee suffered minor injuries during the evacuation and received medical care before returning to work.

After the fire broke out, this company, which produces 200,000 tons of ethylene and 85,000 tons of propylene, has ceased production. The company announced in a letter that the supply of its products from the website was force majeure. It is worth mentioning that, according to news reports, the company's ethylene and propylene cracking unit was repaired on March 20, and the maintenance lasted for one month. It was not officially resumed until April 20.

HIP-Petrohemija is a large-scale complex petrochemical plant located in Panjevo, Elemir near Zlenjanin, and Krepaya Industrial Zone near Panjevo, with a total area of 247 hectares and an annual production of about 800,000 tons Petrochemical products. The fire incident is currently under investigation, and the impact of this incident is expected to last several months.
