Acomar and Hercules set up joint R&D laboratories in France
Acomar and Hercules announced that they would open a joint R&D laboratory in Les Avenires, France, in April. As early as March 2018, Acomar and Hertz announced that they had reached strategic cooperation to jointly develop thermoplastic composite solutions for aerospace industry based on Hertz's expertise in carbon fiber and Acomar's expertise in PEKK. The announcement of joint R&D laboratories is part of the strategic cooperation between the two sides. The goal of the new laboratory is to develop carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic preprepreg tapes for the production of light components related to future aircraft.
Such solutions will provide customers in aerospace and defense with lightweight, low-cost and efficient technologies, including accelerated production cycles.
Thanks to the close cooperation between Acomar and Hertz, the new laboratory will install an industrial pilot line in the next few weeks. Both sides are expected to provide customers with carbon/thermoplastic UD tape produced in the pilot line for evaluation starting from the third quarter of 2019.
