PPG launches new SIGMA SAILADVANCE NX antifouling paint
PPG (NYSE: PPG) recently announced that its award-winning PPG Sigma Sailadvance antifouling paint family has added a new member-SIGMA SAILADVANCETM NX antifouling paint, marking another major breakthrough in PPG's antifouling coating technology .
PPG Sigma Sailadvance NX anti-fouling paint is specially developed for the highest level of hull protection and ship performance. It meets the energy-saving standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). It can significantly save fuel and reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, thereby reducing overall operating costs. Make positive contributions to the global carbon emission reduction business.
As an important research and development achievement of PPG resin synthesis experts for 10 years, PPG Sigma Sailadvance NX antifouling paint can achieve true linear polishing and minimize the leaching layer, and can protect the hull under various fouling conditions around the world. This solves the long-standing anti-pollution technical problems in the shipping industry.
The PPG Sigma Sailadvance NX coating formulated with PPG’s proprietary zinc methacrylate controllable surface active polymer (CSP) resin exhibits excellent performance, with an average speed loss of only 1.0-1.5% during ship operation, and at the same time Effectively save fuel and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 15%.
The binder formula used in the coating can achieve true linear polishing, is not susceptible to changes in seawater temperature, and minimizes the accumulation of leaching layers. Tests and application data for existing customers show that there is no performance loss during ship operation, and the anti-fouling coating can reliably protect idle ships for up to 45 days.
PPG Sigma Sailadvance NX anti-fouling paint contains a set of super-strong biological sterilants, which can target all kinds of dirt growth conditions around the world, including a series of dirt types including bacterial slime, soft dirt and aggressive animal dirt.

PPG's special grade zinc methacrylate CSP resin has a special molecular structure, and its reaction site is twice that of other acrylates, so it can promote chemical hydrolysis. The strictly controlled hydrolysis process can also minimize the saponification layer and achieve true linear polishing. In addition, it can ensure that the biological sterilant can be controlled at the required level, so as to provide the most comprehensive and reliable protection during the ship's operation and stationary period.
