A few days ago, the sub-project of "Salt Reduction in Food and Catering Enterprises" of the Sino-British Salt Reduction Action in Hebei Province was launched in Zhaoxian County. The project will last four years. There will be 12 project sites in 6 project provinces, and 2 project sites in Hebei Province will be located in Zhao County and Zhengding County of Shijiazhuang City.

According to the arrangement, 16 restaurants will be selected in the project county. Through providing less salt selection service, low salt labeling, salt reduction training for chefs and restaurant service personnel, salt reduction dish development, salt reduction publicity and other activities, "restaurant-consumer-environment-health management agency-market" and other multi-level salt reduction actions will be carried out to promote restaurants to increase the proportion of salt reduction dishes. To reduce salt consumption in restaurants, reduce salt (sodium) consumption of restaurant diners, create a public opinion environment for salt reduction, and ultimately achieve the goal of salt reduction.

According to experts from Shijiazhuang CDC, population salt reduction is the most economical and effective measure to prevent cardiovascular disease in developed and developing countries. However, the salt intake of Chinese residents has remained high. In order to promote the realization of China's salt reduction goals, the China Center for Disease Control and Prevention jointly launched the Sino-British Salt Reduction Initiative project, aiming at salt intake from different channels of family cooking, dining out and pre-packaged food, to develop and implement a series of comprehensive, effective and sustainable national salt reduction projects with a view to achieving the salt average in 2021. A target of 15% reduction in intake and 30% reduction in 2025.
