Spanish Poison Centre Notification Extended for Industrial Use Mixtures

Chemical Watch 2017-06-08

Poison

The deadline for notifying industrial use mixtures with health and physical effect classifications to poison centres in Spain has been extended by almost seven years.

A new ministerial order has prolonged the transitional period for mixtures commercialised only for industrial use to 1 January 2024, according to a statement from the Spanish chemicals industry association, Feique.

This follows on from the previous order, under which companies were required to notify classified mixtures to the Spanish Institute of Toxicology (SIT) by 1 June this year.

EU member states have different processes for notification to poison centres. Spain requires the notifier to follow a comprehensive 13-step process and to download specialist software to generate a toxicological report for their mixture.
