From January to April 2019, the global shipbuilding market was generally cold, with 308 new ships and 19.34 million tonnes of load traded, a decrease of 48.2% compared with the same period last year. In April, 42 new ships and 4.73 million tonnes of load traded globally supported by batch orders created by Guinean bauxite mines recovered 14.5% from the low level, but still decreased by 12.6% compared with the same period last year.

From the key monitoring indicators, in April 2019, the main sub-indicators of China's shipbuilding industry boom leading index fell by two litres, among which, Chinese shipyards undertook 3793,000 new ship orders, up 36.2% annually; the average Clarkson shipping index was 10861 US dollars per day, down 2.4% annually; the new shipbuilding price index of China was 1130 points, up 0.4% annually; and the main coastal and inland river ports were off-shore. Among them, China's shipbuilding completion volume was 1862,000 tons, a decrease of 37.8% annually; ship export volume was 153.8 billion US dollars, an increase of 8.6% annually; China's shipyard main business income was 14.53 billion yuan, a decrease of 38.4% annually; China's shipyard profit was 0.2 billion yuan, a decrease of 38.5% annually. Judging from the volume of new ships, China's shipyards, with their strong performance in bulk and container shipping markets and strong support from domestic shipowners and capital, have taken on 11.15 million tonnes of new ships with a global share of 57%, which continues to rank first in the world, but still declined by 19% compared with the same period last year. Overall, global economic weakness and international trade uncertainty will continue to depress the release of demand for new ship transactions, and the industry's short-term situation is not very optimistic. It is expected that the early warning index of China's shipbuilding industry will be in a "cold" range in the short term.
