120,000 Tons Per Year of PBAT Project in Xinjiang will be Built Soon

Recently, Xinjiang Huatai Heavy Chemical Co., Ltd. 120,000 tons of biodegradable materials project environmental impact assessment public participation to be reported for approval.

 

Total investment of the project: 105,000,000 Yuan, including construction investment of 781,984,200 Yuan.

 

Construction scale: The project capacity is 120,000 tons/year polybutylene terephthalate-adipate (hereinafter referred to as PBAT), the plant is designed according to two 60,000 tons/year capacity, and the output is 13,200 tons/year tetrahydrofuran (hereinafter referred to as THF) as by-product.

The project site is located near the center of the consumer product market, and the main raw materials are supplied by the corresponding subsidiaries of Xinjiang Zhongtai Chemical Co. Ltd. 270,000 tons/year BDO plant; adipic acid (AA) from Xinjiang Tianli High-tech Petrochemical Co.

 

The project proposes to produce PBAT biodegradable polyester chips by one-step (esterification-melt polycondensation) continuous polymerization technology that directly viscosifies PBAT esterified material to the required viscosity through melt polycondensation reaction and the process technology and equipment with independent intellectual property rights of Shanghai Juyou Chemical Co.

Xinjiang Huatai Heavy Chemical Co., Ltd. was established on Jan. 16, 2004, with registered capital of 5.58 billion and located at No. 1868 Yimin West Street, Middong District, Urumqi, Xinjiang.

 

Xinjiang Huatai Heavy Chemical Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of Xinjiang Zhongtai Chemical Co.

 

Xinjiang Zhongtai Chemical (SZ002092) is a listed company and the parent company of the largest BDO producer as well as the largest calcium carbide producer in China.

 

Xinjiang Markor Chemical Co.Ltd. is the largest BDO producer in China with 260,000 tons of capacity and 100,000 tons of capacity still under construction, which is expected to be put into operation in October 2022. Sinotec holds 25% of Markor Chemical, while Sinotec's parent company, Xinjiang Sinotec (Group) Limited, holds 53% of Markor Chemical.
