The next national procurement target for medical devices: spinal consumables
Previously, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei pharmaceutical joint procurement platform issued a notice on the announcement of the selected results of the "3+N" Union of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei orthopaedic trauma medical consumables with volume linkage procurement, under the mechanism of "with volume linkage", the price of orthopaedic trauma medical consumables has bottomed out again. The price of orthopaedic trauma consumables has bottomed out again under the "quantity linkage" mechanism.
With the National Health Insurance Bureau including orthopaedic consumables in the key areas of collection, it is believed that future collection actions in the orthopaedic field will be more frequent, and price reductions across the board are inevitable.

The next target for price reductions is already clear: spinal consumables.
In February this year, at a State Council policy briefing held by the State Council Information Office, Chen Jinfu, deputy director of the National Health Insurance Bureau, said that he was prepared to carry out centralised volume purchasing of orthopaedic spinal consumables this year.
He revealed that as orthopaedic clinical needs are great, but the standards vary and the product composition is very complex, how to form a procurement product group according to the needs of clinical care involves a very high technical aspect, and the programme is now being studied.
We will also conduct a special study with the joint procurement office of high-value medical consumables, and listen extensively to the opinions of clinical experts and enterprises, in order to have a preliminary set of plans in the first half of the year. If the conditions are ripe, this year can be smooth to open the tender.
Previously, Anhui Province has carried out two rounds of collection of spinal supplies. In July last year, in the second round of Anhui's spinal consumables collection, the highest rate of reduction came from Beijing Chuang Sheng's "thoracolumbar interbody fusion device", amounting to 82.88%, with an average reduction of 54.6%. This is likely to be the reference for future national procurement of spinal products.
This can also be seen, before the national collection, there have been a number of provincial collection.
Chen Jinfu also pointed out that in the regional alliances and provincial alliances, there is a higher rate of benefit to the public in the regions where they have already been carried out, but the prices of others that did not participate in the alliances did not come down, and the system effect of price reductions in the collection of local people did not benefit.
Therefore, in the varieties that have been carried out collectively, we should gradually implement the follow-up synergy of other provinces, so that the coverage can be rapidly expanded to other areas.
It is impossible for the state to recruit all the varieties, and in order to better serve the clinic, a large number of provincial-level alliances should be used to recruit, or even third-party recruiting. The main pattern is still the national organization and inter-provincial alliance, and the inter-provincial alliance will recruit more and more varieties.
For domestic enterprises, with the gradual landing of orthopaedic consumables collection and the continuous improvement of product quality of domestic enterprises, the advantages of foreign products are not as good as before, and the localization of the orthopaedic consumables market will certainly be accelerated.
