Sino-US trade talks will restart next week

Foreign media said that Gao Feng, a spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce of China, said on July 4 that the unilateral tariff imposed by the United States on Chinese goods imported from the United States was the starting point of economic and trade frictions between China and the United States. If the two sides can reach an agreement, the tariff imposed must be abolished altogether.
According to Reuters on July 4, he said at a press conference held by the Ministry of Commerce that as long as the two sides expand cooperation on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, and control differences on the basis of mutual respect, they can achieve mutually beneficial and win-win development. The summit pointed out that the successful meeting between the heads of state of China and the United States pointed out the direction for the development of Sino-US economic and trade relations in the next stage. This shows once again that the development of good Sino-US economic and trade relations is the aspiration of the people of both countries and the general expectation of the international community.
He said that China and the United States have strong complementarity in the field of agricultural trade and there is a huge space for cooperation. For some time, under the influence of Sino-US economic and trade frictions, Sino-US agricultural trade has been impacted, which China does not want to see. Agricultural trade is an important issue for both sides to discuss. It is hoped that the two sides will find a solution to the problem on the basis of equality and mutual respect, proceeding from the fundamental interests of the two peoples.
He said: "China has always believed that Sino-US economic and trade frictions should ultimately be resolved through equal dialogue and consultation... It is hoped that the two sides will take care of each other's reasonable concerns on the basis of equality and mutual respect in accordance with the important instructions of the meeting of the two heads of state, seek solutions for mutual benefit and win-win situation, and create a stable and predictable environment for trade and investment for both countries and global enterprises.
Also reported by Reuters on July 3, Trump government officials said on July 3 that senior representatives of the United States and China are reopening negotiations next week in an attempt to resolve a year-long trade war between the world's top two economies. "Negotiations will continue solemnly next week," White House Economic Adviser Kudrow said at a press conference. An official from the U.S. Trade Representative's Office later said that the two sides were planning a major negotiator-level telephone conversation next week.
Reports say that since the heads of state of China and the United States agreed to resume talks that were interrupted in May last weekend, the two sides have been communicating by telephone.
Kudrow was not clear about the timetable for resuming face-to-face negotiations. He said the talks would begin "very soon" and the news would be announced soon. He said, "I don't know the exact time. They're talking on the phone. They will talk over the next week and schedule face-to-face meetings.
