How is Hainan progressing in the first year of the total plastic ban?

　　Li Jie, who lives near the Wuyuanhe Farmers' Market in Haikou, is used to taking an environmentally friendly bag with her every time she goes to the market to buy food, and since August last year, she has noticed that the bags used by stall owners to carry food have been replaced with biodegradable plastic bags, which surprised her.

　　Straws were replaced with paper ones, lunch boxes, shopping bags, rubbish bags are all biodegradable plastic products ...... Once widely used in life, disposable plastic products are gradually being replaced in communities, schools, scenic spots and other places. The "ban on plastic" as one of the landmark projects of Hainan's construction of a national ecological civilization pilot area, is being fully carried out in Hainan.

　　As the first province in China to ban plastic through local legislation, Hainan has entered the era of plastic ban since December 1, 2020, according to Gong Lei, deputy director of the Plastic Ban Office of the Department of Ecology and Environment of Hainan Province.

     A total of three batches of plastic ban lists have been issued, banning and restricting the production, sale and use of 19 types of plastic products in four categories. Since the implementation of the "plastic ban", Hainan has 738 enterprises to obtain the "plastic ban" alternatives regulatory code, alternatives sales volume of nearly 30,000 tons.
