Edible fungi account for half of the export of agricultural products

Hubei Daily News Edible fungi continue to lead the export of agricultural products in Hubei. On July 11, the reporter learned from the Provincial Agricultural and Rural Department that more than 40% of the edible fungi in Hubei were exported overseas last year, and exported to more than 50 countries and regions. The export amount reached 971 million US dollars, accounting for 52.04% of the total agricultural export value of the province. Edible fungi are the dominant agricultural products in Hubei Province. The total output of edible fungi in 58 counties and municipalities in the province reached 550,000 tons in 2018, with an output value of 14.8 billion yuan. Six demonstration zones for quality and safety of edible fungi export have been constructed in Suizhou, Xiangyang, Yichang and Jingmen of Hubei Province. At the same time, strengthen the brand building of edible fungi, organize enterprises to actively participate in various domestic and international exhibitions, and expand market influence. According to the data provided by the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, from 2016 to 2018, the export volume of edible fungi in Hubei Province was US$786 million, US$1042 million and US$971 million, accounting for 46.44%, 54.7% and 52.04% of the total export value of agricultural products in that year, respectively. According to the introduction, the export varieties of edible fungi in Hubei have developed from primary products such as dried mushrooms, black fungus and Tremella to intensively processed products such as mushroom sauce, and the export market has expanded from traditional Southeast Asia to European and American markets. Hubei Yuguo Mushroom Industry Co., Ltd. exports mushroom products to more than 50 countries and regions, and shows an expanding trend year by year. It has exported over US$100 million for many years, ranking in the forefront of the industry.
