Huide Technology Partners with U.S. Firm to Open the Door to Mass Production of Circular TPU

ECHEMI 2025-10-30

China’s leading polyurethane producer Huide Technology has achieved substantial progress in its collaboration with U.S. recycling technology pioneer Novoloop. The two companies recently announced the signing of a five-year contract manufacturing agreement aimed at scaling up the commercial production of Novoloop’s innovative Lifecycled™ thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). This partnership marks a major milestone in bringing circular polymer materials into large-scale industrial application.

Technology-Driven: From Waste Plastics to High-Performance Polyurethanes

Under the agreement, the two sides have established long-term supply, pricing, and quality standard terms. Novoloop’s core technology lies in its proprietary chemical upcycling process, which converts post-consumer polyethylene waste into high-performance polyols comparable to those made from virgin fossil-based feedstocks. This process significantly reduces dependence on fossil resources in polyurethane production.

Leveraging nearly three decades of polyurethane manufacturing experience and a comprehensive industrial infrastructure, Huide Technology will help realize the commercialization and scale-up of Novoloop’s technology. Through this collaboration, Huide further strengthens its technological capabilities in the field of circular materials.

Commercialization Results: Industrial Validation of Lifecycled TPU

The partners have successfully produced multiple batches of Lifecycled 67A TPU on commercial reactive extrusion production lines using Novoloop’s polyols and formulations. Test results show that the material’s performance is stable and fully meets industrial standards, validating the technical feasibility of large-scale production using recycled feedstock.

In addition, the agreement includes provisions for establishing a Global Recycled Standard (GRS) traceability mechanism to ensure sustainability and transparency throughout the entire production process. The two companies plan to introduce a broader range of TPU products with varying performance grades to serve electronics, automotive, footwear, and sports & leisure applications.

Capacity Expansion: New Polyurethane Materials Project Progressing Steadily

Beyond this technology partnership, Huide Technology is accelerating its TPU industrialization efforts. On July 4, the company announced a plan to raise up to RMB 580 million through a private placement to fund the construction of the “Jiangsu Huide New Materials Co., Ltd. Polyurethane New Materials Project.”

The project is expected to have a construction period of 14 months, an after-tax internal rate of return (IRR) of 24.14%, and a payback period of 5.3 years (including the construction phase).

According to the company, the project will further optimize product performance and process design, forming unique technical advantages and enhancing competitiveness in the mid- to high-end markets. This capital raise represents a key step in enhancing resource allocation, strengthening industrial synergy, and supporting sustainable business growth.

Strategic Significance

The partnership with Novoloop represents more than a manufacturing agreement—it’s a strategic move toward the future. By introducing world-leading plastic recycling technologies, Huide Technology is building new technological barriers in the sustainable materials field and leveraging Novoloop’s international network to accelerate global market expansion.

This collaboration positions Huide to capture strategic advantages in the global green materials landscape, establishing a new competitive model that integrates technological innovation, sustainable manufacturing, and global collaboration. For downstream sectors such as electronics injection molding, automotive manufacturing, and new energy, Huide will become an important provider of sustainable polyurethane solutions.

Novoloop CEO Miranda Wang stated:“By partnering with a world-class polyurethane producer like Huide, we can ensure reliable quality, traceability, and cost stability for a wide range of applications. This marks a significant step toward the large-scale commercialization of circular TPU.”

Huide Technology General Manager Qian Jianzhong emphasized:“We have always upheld the principles of sustainable development and innovation. Partnering with Novoloop allows us to further extend this mission, jointly driving technological innovation and advancing toward a more sustainable lifestyle.”

Through its dual focus on international collaboration and capital-driven expansion, Huide Technology is demonstrating a long-term strategy powered by technological innovation and global synergy.

As the global wave of circular economy and green manufacturing continues to deepen, Huide is transforming from a traditional materials supplier into a provider of green materials and sustainable solutions, poised to play a pivotal role in the global polyurethane industry’s transition.
