Industrial Economy Leaps Forward, Manufacturing Powers Stand Up in the East

The National Bureau of Statistics today released the Third Report Series on Economic and Social Development Achievements of the 70th Anniversary of the founding of New China. The report shows that in the past 70 years, China has grown from a poor and backward agricultural country to the world's largest industrial manufacturing country, and has become an important engine driving global industrial growth. Over the past 70 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China, China's industry has been advancing at an unprecedented speed. Industrial added value increased from 12 billion yuan in 1952 to 30516 billion yuan in 2018, an increase of 970.6 times in constant prices, with an average annual increase of 11.0%. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Party and the government have attached great importance to industrial construction. Since the First Five-Year Plan, they have invested limited resources in industrial sectors, laying a preliminary foundation for the development of industrialization. At present, China has 41 industrial categories, 207 middle categories and 666 sub-categories, and a modern industrial system with relatively complete industries and certain technological level has been formed.

World Bank data show that in 2010, China's manufacturing added value surpassed the United States for the first time and became the world's largest manufacturing country. Since then, China's manufacturing added value has ranked first in the world for many consecutive years. In 2017, China's manufacturing added value accounted for 27.0% of the world's share, becoming an important engine driving global industrial growth. 。 At the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China, China could only produce a few consumer goods such as yarn, cloth, matches, soap, flour and so on. Nowadays, the output of our main industrial products has entered the forefront of the world. The raw coal, iron and steel, building materials, chemical industry and other energy raw materials industries have formed a huge production capacity. According to the light industry federation, the output of more than 100 light industry products, such as clocks and watches, bicycles, sewing machines, batteries, beer, furniture and plastic processing machinery, ranks first in the world. High-tech equipment products started late, but developed rapidly. In 2018, China's production of mobile phones, computers and color TV reached 1.8 billion units, 310 million units and 190 million units respectively, accounting for 70-90% of the world's total output; the output of automobiles was 27.819 million units, ranking first in the world for many years; and the high-speed rail EMUs have become bright business cards of China and gone abroad. From the early days of the founding of New China to the 1990s, China's industrial structure was dominated by traditional industries such as iron and steel, building materials, agricultural and sideline food, textiles and other industries. Entering the 21st century, especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, China has vigorously developed high-tech industries and advanced manufacturing industries, actively promoted strategic emerging industries, accelerated the development of new momentum, and continuously advanced industrial economy. Mobile communications, speech recognition, the third generation of nuclear power "Hualong 1" and tunneling equipment rank among the world's top ranks. Integrated circuit manufacturing, C919 large passenger aircraft, high-grade numerical control machine tools, large-scale ship manufacturing equipment and other equipment to catch up with the advanced international level, gantry five-axis machine tools, 80,000 tons of forging press and other equipment to fill a number of domestic gaps. 。

Industrial Internet has been widely used in petroleum, petrochemical, steel, household appliances, clothing, machinery, energy and other industries. The total number of industrial Internet platforms with certain industry and regional influence in China has exceeded 50, and the average number of devices connected by key platforms has reached 590,000. More importantly, with the increase of national economic strength, the independent innovation ability of manufacturing industry has been significantly enhanced, and some technologies have been running from heel to lead. Since the Eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, under the guidance of innovation-driven strategy, Industrial Enterprises above the scale as the main body of innovation have continuously increased their investment in science and technology, and the level of scientific and technological innovation has been significantly improved.

In 2017, 934,000 patents for industrial inventions above the scale of China were valid, an increase of 29.8 times over that in 2004. According to a report issued by the World Intellectual Property Organization, China will become the second largest international patent applicant in 2017. Some products and technologies have reached the international advanced level. Power generation equipment, power transmission and transformation equipment, rail transit equipment and telecommunications equipment industry has been in the leading position in the world; Shenwei Taihu Light supercomputer has repeatedly ranked the top of the world's top 500. Manned space flight and lunar exploration have achieved important results, and Beidou navigation has entered a new era of networking. Relying on the complete industrial base and comprehensive cost advantages, the quality of China's foreign trade has risen steadily. In 1978, China's total export of goods was only 16.8 billion yuan, and in 2018 it reached 16.4 trillion yuan, an increase of 979 times. Since 2009, China has been the largest exporter of Global trade in goods for many years.
