The Energy Transition Is on The Line, And The Global Climate Has Entered A State of Emergency
On April 4, local time, the third working group report "Climate Change 2022: Mitigation of Climate Change" of the Sixth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was officially released.
The report pointed out that the average annual global greenhouse gas emissions from 2010 to 2019 were at the highest level in human history, but the growth rate has slowed down. Limiting global warming to 1.5°C will be impossible without immediate and deep emissions reductions across all sectors.
In fact, such "warnings" are not uncommon. Not long ago, UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated that the 1.5°C temperature control target emphasized in the Paris Agreement, as well as the target proposed at the Glasgow Climate Change Conference last November, is now on "life support" and "intensive care".
Last year alone, global energy-related carbon dioxide emissions rose by 6% to an all-time high, and coal-related emissions have also broken records.
Various facts are clear: the global climate has entered a state of emergency, and the energy transition is imperative.
As the cost of solar, wind and battery power continues to fall, and the goal of "carbon neutrality" has become a global consensus, the use of renewable energy is accelerating.
According to the report "Global Energy Review: Carbon Dioxide Emissions in 2021" recently released by the International Energy Agency (IEA), in 2021, there will be a certain increase in global renewable energy power generation, and the proportion of these "green power" in the power supply has even increased. more than coal-fired power generation.
Data show that in 2021, the global renewable energy power generation will exceed 8,000 terawatt-hours, an increase of 500 terawatt-hours from 2020 and a record high. Among them, photovoltaic power generation increased by 170 TWh.
As the latest IPCC report argues, a major transformation of the energy sector is necessary in response to global warming. Reducing the use of fossil fuels, promoting widespread electrification, improving energy efficiency, and using alternative fuels such as hydrogen are all possible approaches.
Therefore, the next few years are the key to achieving the temperature control goal. Human beings must not only do their best to reduce carbon emissions, but also spare no effort to increase the proportion of renewable energy use.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres has said that efforts to renewable energy must now triple as climate action regresses. In order to achieve the 1.5°C temperature control target, humans need to reduce global emissions by 45% within a decade. The transition to renewable energy will mend the shattered global energy mix and bring hope to the planet and people.
At the beginning of this year, at the thirty-sixth collective study meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, it was also clarified that my country "should promote the development of new energy and clean energy in a more prominent position, actively and orderly develop light energy, silicon energy, hydrogen energy, renewable energy”. Clean energy is placed in a more prominent position, and it will also help achieve high-quality economic and social development in my country.
At present, carbon neutrality has become a global consensus, and human society is also on the road of switching from carbon energy to silicon energy. As the world's leading solar technology company, LONGi has established five business segments: monocrystalline silicon wafers, battery modules, industrial and commercial distributed solutions, green energy solutions, and hydrogen energy equipment, forming a "green power + green" business model that supports global zero-carbon development. Hydrogen" products and solutions.
As a long-term adherent, LONGi actively implements the concept of green manufacturing, and innovatively implements the concept of "manufacturing clean energy from clean energy" in the photovoltaic industry. In the future, the company will continue to strengthen technological innovation, lead industrial development with technology, promote photovoltaic power generation to reduce costs and increase efficiency, and use efficient and reliable products and services to create long-term value for global customers.
