National Economic Operation Maintained in a Reasonable Range in July

The State Council Information Office held a press conference today (14). The spokesman of the National Bureau of Statistics introduced the operation of the national economy in July. The data show that the national economy operated in a reasonable range in July and continued to maintain a steady and progressive development trend.
From the industrial point of view, industrial production was steady and moderate in July. The value added of industries above the national scale increased by 4.8% year-on-year. Among them, the high-tech manufacturing industry grew faster, with a growth rate of 1.8 percentage points faster than that of industries above the scale. From the perspective of consumption, the total retail sales of social consumer goods increased by 7.6% in July compared with the same period last year, and the online retail sales grew faster. From January to July, the national online retail sales increased by 16.8% compared with the same period last year.
In the first July, China's investment grew steadily, and the national investment in fixed assets grew by 5.7% year-on-year. Among them, the investment in manufacturing and high-tech industries grew well.
From the perspective of employment, the employment situation in China was generally stable in the previous July. There were 8.67 million new jobs in cities and towns across the country, and nearly 80% of the annual plan had been completed. Meanwhile, in July, prices rose moderately on the whole, with core CPI excluding food and energy rising by 1.6% year on year, and remained at a low level for three consecutive months.
