Nningxia: All 11 coal mines in the peripheral key areas have been closed down

Reporters learned from the Ningxia Natural Resources Department that the comprehensive improvement of the ecological environment in the peripheral key areas of Helan Mountain in Ningxia has progressed smoothly. At present, 11 coal mines that should be closed and withdrawn according to the requirements of the renovation plan have been closed down, and the production safety licenses have been cancelled.

Since the battle of ecological protection of Helan Mountain was launched in 2017, Ningxia has continuously promoted the comprehensive improvement of the ecological environment of Helan Mountain. In May this year, it launched the comprehensive improvement of the ecological environment of the key peripheral areas of Helan Mountain, focusing on the common problems of damage to the ecological environment, and solving the individual problems by classifying them in a planned and step-by-step manner. Solve the ecological environment problems of Helan Mountain, enhance the circulation ability of the ecosystem, and maintain the ecological stability.

According to the relevant work programme, this year Ningxia will basically complete the task of comprehensive renovation of "scattered pollution" enterprises in 43 key peripheral mines and 2 coal processing zones. At present, the comprehensive treatment of these 45 renovation points has achieved remarkable results. Eleven schemes have been worked out to verify the reserves of remaining resources closed and withdrawn from coal mines and to calculate the corresponding prices. And according to the verification of the remaining reserves of coal mine resources and the corresponding price accounting results, the mining right price is refunded. At the same time, in order to solve the problems left over by 169 renovation sites in protected areas, Ningxia is working out a work programme for consolidation and upgrading in protected areas, which will provide safeguards for consolidating and enhancing the effectiveness of ecological environment renovation in protected areas and establishing a long-term ecological protection mechanism.
