2022 Top 50 Global Pharmaceutical Companies Released! Pfizer Returns to NO.1, Kexing Counterattack First on the List
A few days ago, Medaverse released the 2022 TOP50 list of global pharmaceutical companies. The list is ranked according to the sales revenue of prescription drugs of pharmaceutical companies in 2021.
The 2021 global pharmaceutical company rankings show that the top 10 companies on the list are not much different from last year, but their rankings have undergone more significant changes. Pfizer leads the list with $81.288 billion. Roche, which was No. 1 last year, dropped to No. 3 this year; Novartis, No. 2 last year, ranked No. 5 this year. Takeda fell out of the top ten, and AstraZeneca made a new entry.
In terms of sales scale, 24 of the top 50 global pharmaceutical companies (21 in 2021) have sales of more than US$10 billion, 9 companies have sales between US$5 billion and US$10 billion, and the remaining 17 on the list The company's sales are between $2 billion and $5 billion.
It is worth noting that a total of 6 Chinese companies have entered the list, namely: Kexing (17), Fosun Pharma (38), Sino Biopharmaceutical (40), Hengrui Medicine (41), Shanghai Pharmaceuticals and CSPC (45).
Comparing the difference between this year and last year's TOP 50 list, the new crown business has the greatest impact.
The first is Pfizer, which has slipped from No. 3 to No. 8 after it spun off its generics division, Pfizer Upjohn. Now, relying on the COVID-19 business (the new crown vaccine Comirnaty jointly developed by Pfizer and BioNTech has an annual revenue of 36.78 billion US dollars), it has returned to the big pharmaceutical company of the universe, and once again sat on the throne of the global pharmaceutical company TOP 1, becoming a big winner in the new crown epidemic.
At the same time, BioNTech, which cooperated with Pfizer on vaccines, also entered the TOP 50 list for the first time as a rookie. Similarly, Moderna also stood out with its star product mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, and won the 20th place in one fell swoop.
In terms of domestic new crown vaccines, Sinovac's 2021 financial report shows that operating income is US$19.374 billion. Most of the revenue comes from the new crown vaccine. Its performance in 2021 "kills" most companies. As a dark horse of the COVID-19, when it entered the TOP 50 list for the first time, it surpassed the rest of the domestic pharmaceutical companies on the list, and even represented the first domestic company to enter the global pharmaceutical company. The ranks of TOP20.
